South West Health Challenge
The South West Health Challenge is a program aiming to make use of all of the activities that already exist in our wonderful towns. We know activities such as these help to improve the health of communities by reducing risk factors which are known to lead to ill health.
The Challenge encourages people to monitor their activity levels and body measurements using an online site.
Each of the communities within the South West Hospital and Health Service have been allocated as a team, to compete against other communities.
The Challenge will run for two months from the 1st of May 2019 until the 30th of June 2019.
Proudly supported by the South West Hospital and Health Service’s Healthy Communities Initiative, 10,000 Steps and Heart Foundation Walking Queensland.
How does the Challenge work?
10,000 Steps members can join their local Health Challenge to have to steps and/or weight and waist change go towards their overall team totals. If you are not yet a member, sign up now!
Once signed up, in your Dashboard go to the Health Measures section, select which Health Challenge you would like to join and nominate the town you would like to represent in the Challenge. Both new and existing 10,000 Steps members can join the Challenge from the Health Measures section.
Then set your goals, log your daily steps and weekly weight and waist girth and your totals will automatically contribute. Visit this page regularly to see which team is taking the lead!
Log your weight and waist girth on the first day of the Health Challenge. This will be your baseline from which weight and waist girth loss is calculated. Then we encourage you to enter your measures every Friday or on a weekly basis.
N.B. Your individual measures cannot be viewed by other participants. Only the totals of all participants in the teams are shown.
