2017 Community Grant: Queensland Walks

Strategy: Community Tournament

Queensland Walks was one of nine 10,000 Steps Community Grant recipients awarded funding for the implementation of 10,000 Steps Community Strategies in 2017. The Queensland Walks has chosen Tarragindi as a location that could benefit from a 10,000 Steps Community Tournament.

Background

Queensland Walks, established in 2012, is a group of people concerned with walking. The group consists of a range of active transport professionals who recognise the need for better transport and health in Queensland to seek to promote and advocate for walking. Queensland Walks believe that there are areas in the state where the walking infrastructure and sociodemographic profile mean that there should be high rates of walking. Promotion there is necessary to encourage people in those areas to try and incorporate walking as a standard part of their life.
