2024 Recap - What is NEW on 10,000 Steps?

From May 2023, we've been making significant upgrades to the 10,000 Steps Platform. Engagement levels are unprecedented, with website visits doubling since the peak engagement period during COVID in 2021 and record numbers of members joining and tracking their steps. These advancements have been made possible thanks to our funding partners and your invaluable feedback, along with the latest research. We are committed to keeping 10,000 Steps engaging, user-friendly, and accessible to support your physical activity journey.

In 2024, we launched an exciting rebrand to refresh our program's look and feel. Enjoy a new, more accessible colour palette, redesigned digital resources, and updated promotional materials.

But wait there's more - you will notice that more enhancements will continue to roll out across our web and mobile platforms.

A NEW Mobile App

We've completely revamped the 10,000 Steps mobile app for iOS and Android to align with our website! Enjoy access to more features on an intuitive interface, with improved navigation and updated branding for better accessibility. The app has had upgrades to integrations with Apple Health and Health Connect, making it easier to sync steps from more trackers. Since its May 2023 release, it has been downloaded more than 94,823 times!

Stylish Everyday Actions

We've upgraded our automatic emails, like those for verifying your email or resetting your password, from plain text to HTML. This makes them easier to read and boosts the brand with new 10,000 Steps colours, hyperlinks, and buttons. Since June 2023, we've sent over 1.5 million transactional emails to improve communication with our members, in style.

Enhanced Communication

We've teamed up with ActiveCampaign to enhance our communication efforts, supporting members using our Program, activating campaigns, and delivering important updates. Our Terms and Conditions and Subscription Preferences have been updated to reflect new communication options available to you. We've also launched new email series for South Australian and Queensland members and organisations, sending a total of 538,205 emails so far.

Step Together in Groups

We've partnered with CQUniversity's Dr. Stephanie Schoppe to launch a new Groups feature on our web and mobile apps. Now, you can create groups of up to 20 friends or family members, expanding social connections beyond one-on-one Friend connections. Set collective goals, track progress, view stats, and compare daily, weekly and monthly steps on your Group leaderboard. Since its launch, 1,332 groups with 4,616 members have been created.

Learn More About Physical Activity

Our revamped Blog is now live! Enjoy an improved experience with posts that can be filtered by categories and tags making it easier to access physical activity and healthy lifestyle content you are interested in. You can find new evidence-based articles, including the Activate Your Everyday series and expanded categories for member and organisation stories, sharing inspiring insights on the Program's impact. The Learn & Discover Blog has now had over 56,457 page views.

Gain Exclusive Access to the Coordinator Hub

The new Coordinator Hub offers a central space to manage Tournaments, Organisation details, members, and access to implementation resources and support. The new one-stop dashboard provides a snapshot of overall engagement, including total Tournaments, teams, members, and steps. Coordinators can view recent Tournaments, track participants' progress, and access auto-calculated statistics with a downloadable spreadsheet. The Coordinator Hub has had over 53,421 page views.

Easier to Read Coordinator Resources

We've upgraded our Coordinator Resources from large PDF guides to a more accessible webpage format for easier navigation and better integration with other content and links. This update included a comprehensive review, consumer engagement, and included a streamlined registration process, and additional implementation support now available through the Coordinator Hub.

Save Time with the Team Invite Code

Coordinators in Queensland and South Australia can now generate Tournament Invite Codes to provide to participants. Participants can log in and use these codes to join a team, simplifying the onboarding process for everyone, especially large-scale Tournaments. Since implementation, 2,931 codes have been generated, with 19,498 activated by members across both states.

Walking Further Together

We've facilitated major steps campaigns including annual Australasian University Health Challenges, annual South Australian Billion Steps Challenges, Queensland Health Steps Challenge, and Queensland Walk Explore Challenge. Over 35,209 participants logged steps during these Challenges, reporting the initiatives boosted awareness of activity levels and motivation to be active, encouraged more physical activity, and improved emotional wellbeing . Public Challenge pages with progress graphs and leaderboards, and regular email updates from the 10,000 Steps team provided valued connection and engagement. Annually improvements are made based on members feedback.
