Groups

Groups are a great way to bring small groups of people together and encourage physical activity. They’re free to join and create, with easy set up and minimal complexity.

Any 10,000 Steps member can create a Group, and either invite or share their Group Invite Code for new members to join. Up to 20 members can be a part of your Group. Group Goal Progress, Group Daily Steps, Weekly Steps, and Monthly Steps are available to view on the website and mobile app.

Group Challenges

Group Leaders can start a Group Challenge by naming and setting a Group Goal. Group Leaders can set a new Group Goal with a new name each month. Start and end dates for Group Goals align with the first and last day of the month.

Group Challenges align with Monthly Challenge dates, and can be joined in conjunction with Monthly Challenges.

Some things to note:

A Group is are not the same as a Tournament Team or Health Challenge Team. If your workplace is running a Tournament, creating a Group will not link you to your Tournament. Reach out to the Coordinator at your organisation to register your Tournament Team.

If your organisation is participating in a Health, State, or Local Challenge, you might be able to use a Group to participate. Check out Health, State, and Local Challenges for more information.

Group Challenges for Organisations

Group Challenges are designed to foster a competitive and supportive environment, making it easy for participants to get started and stay engaged. Small organisations can benefit from free Group Challenges as a simple and structured step challenge option for up to 20 participants.

Group Challenges align with Monthly Challenge dates, and can be used in conjunction with promoting Monthly Challenges to offer simple internal competition with an external prize opportunity.

Coordinators can create a Group for their staff or community, and run Group Challenges during particular months, or every month. Groups exist year-round, and Group Members can view steps for members year-round. Group Leaders can start a Group Challenge by naming and setting a Group Goal.

Larger organisations can also encourage their teams to use Groups when their Tournaments have large scale Teams. For example, a local site might use a Group to track their local team, while competing within a larger department-wide Tournament Team. Coordinators can also encourage Health Challenge participants to create their own Groups if participants would like to track their smaller team while participating in a larger Health Challenge team.

Some things to note:

Coordinators can only see Group Member steps and achievements when they are also a Group Member in that Group. Groups are not linked to Tournaments, and do not replace the need to organise registration of Teams if they are promoted alongside Tournaments.
