Health Challenges

Health Challenges are a custom offering with a robust and engaging framework for large organisations to promote physical activity. These challenges are free for participants to join, with a setup complexity ranging from medium to major. They can be initiated for chosen dates, for any number of participants, allowing for extensive participation.

Each Health Challenge is different. Common features include a public landing page, a time-based or step-based goal, and links to Tournaments or Monthly Challenges.

To participate in a Health Challenge, create and verify your 10,000 Steps Account, log your steps in your Step Log, and check your Health Challenge page for any additional steps to join, or eligibility requirements.

Health Challenges for Organisations

Health Challenges are flexible and can be customised to cater to a diverse range of organisational needs. Health Challenges can rank participants by average steps and total steps, or speed of completion, and they can include journey milestones or overarching step, activity, or weight goals.

Health Challenges are typically supported by a customised public landing page, with a range of data visibility or anonymity options for the Health Challenge Leaderboard. Health Challenges can also be linked to Tournaments, allowing for internal participant-only Tournament Leaderboards linked to a publicly available Health Challenge Leaderboard.

There are a range of joining pathway options for participants, including open registration through the public page, or through limited eligibility channels.

Health Challenge Applications

Please be aware, due to the custom nature of Health Challenges, set up and launch can take 3 - 6 months. We are not currently taking new applications for Health Challenges planned for 2024. Reach out to us if you'd like to discuss funding Health Challenges for your community or workplace in 2025.

State and Local Challenges

State and Local Challenges are designed for regional or state-wide participation, offer a comprehensive and flexible platform for organisations and communities to promote physical activity. These Challenges are free to join, and often paired with external media campaigns or events. The setup process can be complex, but accommodates Challenges for any number of participants, for custom timeframes.

State Challenges are large-scale initiatives that aim to encourage participation state-wide, towards a goal or within a timeframe. Similarly, Local Challenges are large-scale Challenges that aim to encourage participation in large regions, towards a goal or within a timeframe. For example, a local government area. Each State and Local Challenge is different. Common features include a public landing page, a time-based or step-based goal, and links to Tournaments or Monthly Challenges.

To participate in a State or Local Challenge, create and verify your 10,000 Steps Account, log your steps in your Step Log, and check your State or Local Challenge page for any additional steps to join, or eligibility requirements.

State and Local Challenges for Organisations

Similar to Health Challenges, State and Local Challenges are flexible and can be customised to cater to a diverse range of organisational needs. State and Local Challenges can rank participants by average steps and total steps, or speed of completion, and they can include journey milestones or overarching step, activity, or weight goals.

State and Local Challenges are typically supported by external media campaigns, and usually focus on community involvement. While they can be linked to other engagement strategies like Tournaments, State and Local Challenges are usually directed by state or local governments.

Workplaces and community Organisations are welcome and encouraged to align Tournaments and physical activity promotions with State or Local Challenges that are being run in their area. By matching your Organisation’s events to the existing campaign, Organisations can leverage the resources and promotion that is available from the larger Challenge. Additionally, Organisations running Tournaments for matching State or Local Challenge periods will be able to identify their Organisations contribution to the larger event.

There are a range of joining pathway options for participants, including open registration through the public page. Participants may also be matched to a State or Local Challenge based on their postcode, with anonymous data contributing to their State or Local area’s total steps.
